Thank you for your enquiry regarding egg donation. It is available to people from outside Australia, but there are three main considerations:

1. If the people are not eligable for Medicare (the Government health insurance scheme) then all procedures will have to be paid for by the patient.

2. There is a tremendous shortage of donated eggs and embryos in Australia, as in most parts of the world.

3. Assisted reproduction is governed by State laws rather than a central federal law. Patients should therefore confirm any local restrictions that might be applied (eg it is illegal to perform IVF in Western Australia if the woman is single).
