Medfem Clinic
We do have an egg donation programme at our clinic. Obtaining the donated eggs is always a problem. We have two types of anonymous donors, altruistic and our own patients who are undergoing the IVF programme (usually for male factor or blocked tubes reasons). If they produce more eggs than they require they will offer to donate the extra eggs away. We screen all our donors, blood tests infections tests, medical history etc. We try and match our donors as closely to our receptients as possible. Due to the shortage of available eggs the receptients need to be fairly flexible. The process is totally anonymous, therefore the receptients will not be able to have contact with the donor but we are able to issue information about the donor regarding factors such as educational or ethnic background. Due to the shortage of oocytes we encourage our patients to bring in their own donors. This becomes a known donor situation, often a sister or a close friend who wishes to help. These donors are more eligible when they have had their own families, they then have proven fertility and have no interest in the outcome of the egg donation.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
