Gonal F

Gonal-F is a prescription medication containing FSH, manufactured by recombinant DNA technology. A reproductive endocrinologist (infertility specialist) typically prescribes Gonal-F for the induction of ovulation and pregnancy in the anovulatory infertile patient in whom the cause of infertility is functional and not due to primary ovarian failure (inability of the ovaries to respond to any hormonal stimulation, often due to a postmenopausal condition). Gonal-F is also indicated for the development of multiple follicles in ovulatory patients participating in an assisted reproductive technology program. Gonal-F can be administered subcutaneously (just under the skin) using a small needle.
